Carl is a UK-based artist whose vibrant, emotionally charged works fuse bold typography, energetic line work, and radiant colour. With a background in visual storytelling and photography, Carl’s transition into mixed media painting reflects his deep exploration of human connection, resilience, and inner strength. His love of all abstract painting and especially pink abstracts is what inspires him.
ARTISTIC STYLE AND PROCESS
Working from his studio near the South Downs, Carl creates layered compositions using a rich mix of materials to create abstract art using —inks, spray paint, wax pencils, and vintage scrap paper. Faces and fragmented human forms often emerge within the textures, adding depth and narrative tension beneath the surface.
His colour palette is deliberately high-voltage, with a strong leaning toward neon pinks, oranges, and blues. He embraces the raw edge of colours associated with street art and graffiti, using them to energise his work and challenge visual expectations.
THEMES & MOTIFS
Carl’s paintings are anchored in themes of hope, love, and belief. Words like “LOVE,” “FAITH,” and “HOPE” appear throughout his work—not as decoration, but as powerful affirmations. His use of numbers, drips, and squiggles adds rhythm and subconscious messaging, creating a dynamic balance between chaos and intention.
